Trump seems more and more fascinated with discovering an off-ramp with Iran, or what he calls “winding down” the warfare.

But his exit technique is unclear – and the US president’s blended messaging suggests he is nonetheless undecided about what would work greatest: ramping up the battle to attempt to finish it as rapidly as doable, or pushing for a negotiated settlement with Tehran.

On Tuesday, Trump signalled the US might pursue each methods directly. In a matter of hours, the Pentagon ordered floor troops to Iran, and US negotiators despatched the Iranian regime a brand new 15-point peace plan.
