Stranger Things actress Maya Hawke tied the knot with her longtime beau singer Christian Lee Hutson in a surprise wedding on the official day of love, Valentine’s Day. The 27-year-old married the 35-year-old singer in a ceremony attended by her famous parents Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman along with her Stranger Things castmates Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery.The bride donned a white wedding dress with an oversized and feathery winter coat while the groom opted for a classic black tuxedo. Mother of the bride, Thurman looked elegant in a light blue gown while her father, Hawk also donned an all-black ensemble.
A musical meet-cute
Maya met the singer while recording music years ago. Hutson has opened for singer Phoebe Bridgers on tour between 2022 and 2023 and was a part of Maya’s 2024 album ‘Chaos Angel’.In February 2024, he shared a Valentine’s Day post featuring the actress and singer on a couch. “The first song from Maya’s new record, Chaos Angel, is out now. I love this song. I love this record. can’t wait to share the rest of it,” Hutson wrote in the caption.In a 2025 interview, Hutson confirmed that Maya was his fiancée. When asked if he worked on the track “Carousel Horses” from his album Paradise Pop. 10 with Phoebe Bridgers and his “fiancée” Maya, he replied “yes.” In April of the same year, the actress was spotted with a diamond ring on her wedding finger out and about in Manhattan. The same month the couple made their red carpet debut at the opening of ‘John Proctor Is the Villain’, which they attended to support Hawke’ castmate Sadie Sink. In July 2024, Maya spoke on her relationship with Hutson, advising people to date their friends. “It’s awesome. I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people,” she said at the Zach Sang Show. “They really know you as a person who has feelings … not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto.”Maya began her career in Hollywood with campaigns for AllSaints and Calvin Klein in 2016 and moved into acting with the 2017 miniseries ‘Little Women’. While she has worked with legends including Quentin Tarantino, her breakout role is considered to be that of Robin in ‘Stranger Things’, which recently aired its finale. She is set to appear in The Hunger Games prequel ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’, making 2026 a truly special year for her.The wedding was also attended by the actress’s brother Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke. Thurman and Hawke were married from 1998 to 2005 and share two children together.
