Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati (MDS) University, Ajmer, has introduced new rules for answer-sheet evaluation to enhance transparency and prevent discrepancies during examinations.
Under the revised guidelines, examiners must now write the total marks on the first page of the answer sheet both in figures and words. Additionally, the marks entered on the main page must exactly match the marks written inside the answer copy.
Strict Instructions to examiners
The university has issued detailed instructions to all college principals, examination centre in-charges, and teachers involved in evaluation. Examination Controller Sunil Tailor stated that overwriting or cutting in marks should be kept to a minimum. In case of any correction, the incorrect entry must be struck out, the correct marks written nearby, and duly signed by the examiner.
Colleges in Ajmer, Bhilwara, Tonk, Nagaur, Beawar, and Kuchaman-Didwana districts come under Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati (MDS) University Ajmer.
Accurate totals mandatory
Examiners have been instructed to ensure that the total marks on the first page are correctly calculated, with no overwriting allowed. Each question’s marks must be clearly mentioned, and the final total must be accurate.
RTI transparency behind the move
University officials said the changes aim to avoid complications if students seek photocopies of their evaluated answer sheets under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The university has emphasized honesty, accuracy, and confidentiality during the evaluation process.
Blank pages must be crossed
Another key change mandates that all blank pages left after answers are completed must be marked with a cross, preventing any misuse or later additions.
After entering marks in both figures and words on the first page, evaluators must also sign the answer sheet, making them accountable for the assessment.
