They mentioned the suspect was arrested in Woonsocket and processed on the Kingston campus. He was arraigned earlier than a justice of the peace.
“The department is not releasing additional details at this time to protect the privacy of potential victims and the integrity of the ongoing investigation,” URI police mentioned.
According to college officers, Bouphavong shouldn’t be a scholar at URI.
Police final week alerted the campus that two voyeurisum incidents have been reported in residence corridor showers.
The first incident, reported on March 6, occurred within the Browning Hall all-gender toilet bathe space at about 9:15 p.m., police mentioned.
URI police mentioned the second incident was reported on March 9 at about 11:38 p.m. on the Butterfield Hall males’s toilet bathe space.
Investigators mentioned a male suspect entered the bathe areas and tried to file male occupants whereas they have been showering.
“Recording them that’s totally invasive, that’s crazy,” mentioned Sydney Meller of Wakefield. “My sister goes to URI and to think that could happen to her that’s scary that’s unbelievable but its true.”
“I think it’s absolutely insane,” mentioned Ryan Blake of Wakefield. “Inside freshman dorms, that’s insane.”
On Tuesday, NBC 10 reached out to URI searching for solutions as to how the suspect entered the dorms.
As of Tuesday night time at 11 p.m., they haven’t responded.
