Nineteen days in the past, the S&P inventory index hit 7,000 – a mark that Donald Trump celebrated on the time and famous once more tonight.
But the index rapidly dropped beneath that quantity and has but to succeed in it once more.
There are then murmurs across the chamber as Trump mentions tariffs for the primary time.
Notably, this hasn’t been an applause line for Republicans, who’ve been fast to cheer earlier parts of Trump’s speech.
This portion of the speech is sucking the air out of the room.
Trump lastly will get some applause from Republicans when he says the tariffs may abolish the revenue tax.
That, it seems, is an thought they’ll get behind.
