As the blue shirts wheeled away in celebration and the scoreboard doubled the number underneath the Manchester City badge, Erling Haaland appeared to pull up, sparking concerns about a potential injury to the striker.
The forward scored on 38 minutes against Fulham in the Premier League but did not return for the second half and was replaced by Omar Marmoush; fans immediately scrambled to see whether or not the change from Pep Guardiola was tactical or intended simply to give the Norwegian rest, given the positive result in the game.
At the time of writing, we simply don’t know if Haaland is injured, but it is not very common for Guardiola to make such a bold change so early on in a game that was going well for the forward.
He had scored City’s third, a lovely finish from the edge of the box, and it remains to be seen whether Pep Guardiola expands on the player’s fitness after full-time.
