Delhi-NCR Wakes Up To Light Rain, Thunderstorms, More Showers Likely

Bringing reduction from excessive temperatures uncharacteristic of early March, Delhi and surrounding areas witnessed rain, lightning and winds on Sunday morning.

An orange alert is in place in Delhi, indicating average rain, lightning and gusty winds. In Noida and Gurugram, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert is in place, indicating gentle rain.

As of seven am, the temperature recorded at Delhi’s Safdarjung climate station is 22 levels Celsius.

The climate physique had on Saturday forecast thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and certain hailstorms within the western Himalayas and adjoining plains on Sunday and Monday.

A dip in temperatures was being reported since Saturday with a yellow alert in place for Sunday. The temperature is predicted to dip additional within the subsequent few days.

“Due to a western disturbance approaching the western Himalayas, cyclonic activity has developed over central Pakistan adjoining Punjab and Haryana. This is expected to be the season’s first pre-monsoon rain, which has arrived about 10 days earlier than usual,” Mahesh Palawat, vp of meteorology and local weather change at Skymet Weather, instructed PTI.

The advancing, Palawat added, has been triggered by the western disturbance mixed with the upper temperatures the town has been experiencing over the previous few days.

According to forecasts, the minimal temperature is prone to be round 14-16 levels Celsius by Monday. The most temperature is prone to settle round 31-33 levels Celsius by Monday, in line with the Met division.

Delhi’s air high quality is prone to stay in ‘average’ class for the following few days, in line with forecasts by the Air Quality Early Warning System.
