A Delhi court docket on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) sentenced Kashmiri separatist and Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi to life imprisonment following her conviction in an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) case.

Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh introduced the decision on Ms. Andrabi after concluding the arguments on the quantum of sentence.

The court docket additionally sentenced two associates of Andrabi — Sofi Fehmeeda and Nahida Nasreen — who have been additionally convicted for 30 years in jail in the identical case.

Earlier on January 14, Ms. Andrabi, Ms. Fehmeeda and Ms. Nasreen have been convicted underneath the offences of UAPA Sections 20 (punishment for being a member of a terrorist gang or terrorist organisation), 38 (offence regarding membership of a terrorist organisation) and 39 (supporting a terrorist organisation).

The court docket additionally convicted the three girls underneath IPC Sections 153A (selling enmity between totally different teams), 153B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to nationwide integration), 120B (felony conspiracy) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) and 121A (conspiracy to commit offences in opposition to the State).

Following her conviction, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had sought life imprisonment for Ms. Andrabi, saying she had waged warfare in opposition to India and a stern message was required to be despatched that conspiring in opposition to the State would invite the harshest penalty.
