The authorities has determined to revoke local weather activist Sonam Wangchuk‘s detention in reference to the violence that occurred in Leh final September, the ministry of home affairs (MHA) mentioned on Saturday. The authorities mentioned that Wangchuk had been detained ‘to maintain public order’ following the violent protests.
“The Government remains committed to fostering an environment of peace, stability, and mutual trust in Ladakh so as to facilitate constructive and meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders. In furtherance of this objective, and after due consideration, the Government has decided to revoke the detention of Shri Sonam Wangchuk with immediate effect by exercising the powers available under the National Security Act,” the federal government mentioned in its statement.
The authorities additional mentioned that it has participating with stakeholders and group leaders in Ladakh to deal with the ‘aspirations and concerns of the people of the region.’

The Centre had earlier mentioned that Wangchuk tried to instigate the Gen Z for protests just like Nepal and Bangladesh.
