Hezbollah fired six projectiles at northern Israel early Monday, prompting a heavy wave of Israeli strikes in Beirut and southern Lebanon.
In a press briefing, Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin stated, “We have mobilised close to 100,000 reservists — dozens of battalions, brigades and divisions — deployed in defence of the northern border and prepared for all possibilities, both defensive and offensive. All options are on the table. We are conducting ongoing situation assessments.”
Defrin stated the Israel Defense Forces struck “dozens” of Hezbollah command centres and launch websites, and in addition focused senior commanders.
Israel has repeatedly hit Hezbollah targets in Lebanon since a ceasefire went into impact in 2024, accusing the Iran-backed group of violating the truce by rebuilding its forces and rearming. However, officers described the most recent strikes as far bigger in scale.
“Hezbollah opened fire last night. We warned it. It will pay a heavy price. We are well prepared,” Defrin stated.
