Jan Bednarek decided it in the 60th minute with a glancing header, as Porto beat Nacional 1-0.
The Poland international timed his run from a corner and steered a precise header into the bottom right (60.), turning a tight game in Porto’s favour after the break.
From there, Bednarek marshalled the visitors’ defence. He read crosses early, won his duels and cleared danger under pressure to shut down Nacional’s late push.
He finished with eight clearances and five aerials won, plus one shot – the winner. He also completed 50 of 61 passes and had 79 touches, underlining his control at both ends.
Because Porto consistently delivered quality set pieces and held a compact back line, Bednarek could attack the ball in one box and organise the defence in the other, keeping Nacional at arm’s length.
