4.2 magnitude earthquake hits Cachar; tremors felt in Guwahati
Guwahati: Residents throughout elements of Assam, together with Guwahati, felt a reasonable 4.2 magnitude earthquake on 25 February 2026, Wednesday, at 10:22 pm.
According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter was situated roughly 1 km from Kanakpur in Assam’s Cachar district.
While the tremors brought about temporary panic amongst locals, there have been no instant stories of injury or casualties.
Authorities have suggested residents to stay alert for potential aftershocks.
